Project Description

  • 29.2-acre site
  • 315 total affordable housing units:
    • 2 60-unit buildings
    • 9 16-unit buildings
    • 3 6-unit buildings
    • 33 townhouse units
  • Stormwater storage basins
  • Southwest corner purchased by City for Whitetail Ridge Park extension
  • Community Center
  • Internal residential streets with sidewalks connecting to surrounding neighborhood
  • Below-grade garage parking

Project Programming

  • Diversity of housing types –single family detached, multifamily and townhouse
  • Range of buildings catering to a variety of ages/family compositions
  • Mix of surface and below-grade garage parking
  • Improved vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle connections
  • Community spaces, including playground, community gardens, and community center

Stormwater Management

  • Site drains southeast toward Starkweather Creek (away from Cherokee Marsh)
  • fully vegetated bio-retention basins and channels designed to provide runoff quantity control to prevent flooding
  • Use of plantings and soils that provide water quality, filtering sediment and pollutants from the runoff, and promote infiltration of the storm water
  • Designed to meet new City of Madison standards for stormwater management
  • Anticipated offsite improvements of the storm water conveyance system, coordinated with the City of Madison, Dane County and Dane County Airport.
